His nonfiction books include Wonderbook and the forthcoming Space Oddities & Super Freaks: The Secret History of SF and Fantasy. He grew up on the Fiji Islands and currently lives in Tallahassee, Florida, with his wife, the award-winning anthology editor, Ann VanderMeer.
