SONIC ACTS IS LOOKING FOR AN INTERN COMMUNICATIONS Period: September or October 2020 to March 2021 Office days: 3 to 4 days per week (in consultation) located in Paradiso Amsterdam Internship allowance: €200 gross per month for 4 days per week (based on €250 gross for a full-time appointment) Sonic Acts will organise a large number of activities at the intersection of art, technology, music and science during the coming cultural season. These include Progress Bar, lectures, workshops, new commissioned artworks and productions, performances, residencies and online activities. The programme continues throughout the year, intensifying around the end of November 2020 and February 2021. Sonic Acts is an interdisciplinary arts organisation based in Amsterdam. Founded in 1994 to provide a platform for new developments in electronic and digital art forms, Sonic Acts has gained prominence with its international festival as well as the intervening Sonic Acts Academy. Beyond its events, Sonic Acts is a leading platform for international projects, research and the commissioning and co-production of new artworks, and is a hub for a global network of artists, curators and critical thinkers. With a focus on talent development, it facilitates artist residencies, publications and year-round activities. Sonic Acts is a small organisation and, as an intern, you will be a complete member of the team. Please note that this is an internship; an internship at Sonic Acts offers you the opportunity to gain lots of experience and gain substantive knowledge in the field of marketing and communication in a dynamic working environment. The internship will take place from September or October 2020 until the end of March 2021 for 3 to 4 days per week. Activities As an intern, you are the right hand of the communication team, giving you a good insight into the entire process. You participate in making the activities of Sonic Acts visible in order to reach the audience and participants. Tasks can include: • Management of the archive, both digitally and in print; • Keeping the websites up to date; • Content planning and creation for websites and social media; • Preparing digital newsletter; • Coordination of the webshop; • Suggesting ideas for (online) marketing campaigns; • Requesting communication materials from artists and artist management; • Practical support such as taking minutes during meetings, requesting quotes, ordering materials, and making timetables, banners and signage; • On-location communication support during activities. Requirements • You have a college- or university-level of thinking; • You know how to get things done, are stress-resistant and can work independently; • You have an affinity with Sonic Acts and its disciplines (art, music, science and technology); • You write and speak fluent English (Sonic Acts communicates mainly in English); • You are adept at social media, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube; • Experience with graphic design software such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop as well as HTML is an advantage; • Experience and/or training in the field of communication and marketing is an advantage; • You live in Amsterdam or the surrounding area; • You are expected to be flexible; our activities also take place during the weekends or in the evening and the working hours adjust to the activities and circumstances.
