Following the success of the previous Critical Writing Workshops, a new edition will take place during Sonic Acts Festival 2017, from 23 to 26 February, facilitated by Jennifer Lucy Allan. During the workshop, we will focus on specific aspects of writing as a craft (language, style, focus) and how to shape the argument or perspective of a piece. You will take part in commissioning meetings with the other participants, have a chance to interview artists and theorists that take part in the festival, and be given one-to-one feedback on all work produced during Sonic Acts. In line with the theme, The Noise of Being, this year the Critical Writing Workshop will discuss critical writing alongside video, photography and other media, giving you tools to think about how to package your ideas.
Enrolment
The workshop hosts a maximum of 7 emerging bloggers, journalists, critics and writers active or interested in the field of interdisciplinary arts (media arts, film, visual arts, performance). Applicants are asked to submit a short motivation and CV to write[@]sonicacts[.]com. The deadline for applications is 15 February 2017. For an impression, check out articles written by 2015 and 2016 participants on the Sonic Acts blog.
