Diana Policarpo

Artist and Composer

Diana Policarpo is a visual artist and composer based between Lisbon and London. Working across sound, sculpture, film, drawing, and installation, she investigates the intersections of popular culture, health, gender politics, and interspecies relations. Her practice connects art and science through fieldwork and collaboration, engaging with landscapes and ecological or extractive systems to trace entangled structures of power and care.

Policarpo explores the rhythmic and tactile dimensions of sound as a material language interwoven with esoteric and social narratives. She has presented solo exhibitions and screenings at institutions including the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum, Centro de Arte Moderna Gulbenkian, Manifesta 15, McaM Shanghai, Helsinki Biennial Kunsthall Aarhus, Ocean Space, Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Kunsthalle Baden-Baden, and Whitechapel Gallery, among others.

She received the EDP Foundation New Artists Award in 2019 and the illy Present Future Award in 2021.
