Hugo Esquinca

Sound Artist and Researcher

Hugo Esquinca is a Mexican sound artist and researcher who produces actions and conditions utilising audio electronics at excessive levels of amplification. His work has been presented in diverse contexts and venues such as EMPAC, Stedelijk Museum, Muziekgebouw, National Centre for Contemporary Arts NCCA, Museum Nikola Tesla, CONCRETE, 20000V, MIRA Ploschad of Modern Art Siberia, Fondazione Antonio Ratti, Ujazdowski Castle for Contemporary Art, Palacio de la Escuela de Medicina, ARTER Museum, Haus der Berliner Festspiele, Akademie der Künste, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Tresor, and Berghain, among others.

Esquinca is currently a PhD researcher at the Erasmus Institute for Philosophy and Technology in Rotterdam under the supervision of Yuk Hui and the co-supervision of Milan Stürmer. His research project is supported by Fundación Jumex Arte Contemporáneo.
